Hemp Science Center (HSC) is a lab initiative into hemp research. The first of its kind in the nation, it promises to advance the research of hemp and its market potential across multiple diverse industries and research fields to serve the growing international demand for innovative approaches to advanced materials industries including natural fibres, food and sustainable materials

HSC includes a diverse and comprehensive team of collaborative researchers that touch on the subject of Industrial hemp. The Center serves to act as a research hub connecting faculty and researchers engaged in hemp research, advanced materials technology & innovation, nutrition, health, public policy, business and engineering. 

Experiment stations and collaboration with MHIRA will make hemp research in Malaysia towards the development of hemp crops and its diversifying markets. This unique interdisciplinary approach allows the University to explore multiple areas of research for this emerging field of study at the same time, with complementary disciplines uncovering potential new discoveries in hemp production, textile and construction materials, bioplastics, foods and many others.
